One of the most popular upgrade options for chicken coops is automatic chicken doors. Are they a must? No. Do they offer a high level of convenience? Yes indeed.
Let's start by explaining something that will be obvious to those who have tended chickens in the past but something those new to the sport may not be familiar with. Chickens leave the coop when the sun comes up and return at dark. Not every chicken and not always but commonly and usually. They form this habit and stick with it. And that is why an automatic chicken door makes sense.
You will most likely want your chickens to be safe and warm. If you are a person who may be out during the evening when the sun goes down and don't want to worry that your chickens are closed safely into their coop where their body heat is warming the coop, then this may be an option for you to consider. (Need lots of specs on how our doors work)
We offer The Advanced Auto Chicken Door with a Solar w/ Battery Back-up power option or an Electric option. The Advanced Auto Chicken Door will help keep your chickens safe inside their coop at night and allow them to stretch their legs in the run during the day. Thanks to the automatic chicken door you won’t have to worry that the coop is closed at night if you want to go out and enjoy a dinner or see a movie.
The Advanced Auto Chicken Door comes installed in your coop. Using the data tables on the movement of the sun, the door will lock up once night falls so that your chickens are safe from predators. You are also able set the door to open and close based on the timing you want, so it can be easily adjusted if you happen to go out of town. The set-up is easy and takes at most ten minutes to complete.
We offer this automatic door for your chicken coop in two different power options so you can select the option that is best for you. For the solar package, the solar panel that powers the auto chicken door comes boxed inside the coop. Due to the fragile nature of the solar panel, you will have to install it onto the coop when it arrives, since it would be damaged when shipped attached to the coop. The solar panel should be placed outside the coop where it can receive the most sunlight. The auto chicken door also has a battery backup in case there isn’t enough energy generated by the solar panel on a particular day. When you select the electric package, the door will get power from an outlet on the side of the coop.
Add on the Wi-fi Module to both the Solar and Electric Automatic Chicken Door. With this
module you can control your chicken door right from your phone.Find out the status of your coop in real time including the coop temperature, the battery charge status and gain access to a live stream from a CoopCam (sold separately). You can view all this from the app or receive email and sms alerts.
Automatic Chicken Doors
One of the most popular items ever for chicken coops is the automatic chicken door.
So, when they go into their coop as the sun goes down, your door (once you have programmed it - takes about 5 minutes, really!) Close behind them. This will keep the heat in and the predators out. It is also a wonderful thing in the morning when the door goes up and you don’t necessarily have to go out right away.
If your chicken, you know the one that is a little odd, decides to stand under the door while it is closing, it will not be chopped in half. No worries, the door will stop and go down when the chicken has moved. You can open the door at any time even if it is scheduled to open and close at certain times. It is solar and also charges a battery. The door will continue to work on cloudy days.
The automatic chicken door included with the Premier coops is our advanced model. It will adjust the time that the door opens and closes with the changes to daylight and nightfall year-round. You will not need to reprogram it every month or so, or give your hens a watch, to stay on the chicken’s schedule.
