Wood board & batten siding can be stained or painted. 100% wood requires more maintenance than the engineered wood option we offer. Repainting or restaining your coop will be necessary approximately every four years for board & batten.
Painted board & batten siding requires more labor-intensive upkeep, by far than stained board & batten does. In order to maintain painted board & batten chicken coops, paint must be scraped off the wood and sanded down. Stained wood can simply be sanded and re-stained with an outdoor oil-based stain.
Engineered wood offered on our coops has a 50-year manufacturer's warranty. It is recommended that the coop is repainted with outdoor paint about every 15 years.
