Roofing Materials Options
We offer three types of roofing materials for our chicken coops:
Architectural Shingles, Insulated Metal, and Cedar Shingles.
Architectural shingles in a variety of colors are included in the base price of your chicken coop. Our shingled roof option includes TechShield sheathing which is light insulation that will keep your chicken coop a bit cooler in the summer. Additional heavier insulation is available as an upgrade for shingled roofs. Our architectural shingles have a 35-year manufacturer's warranty. Insulated metal roofs are offered in a wide variety of colors. They have a 40-year manufacturer's warranty. Choosing between a shingled roof and a metal roof and want to know which one is better? Neither is really better. It is a style choice and on some models, it is less expensive to go with a metal roof than it is to insulate a shingled roof. Tech shield sheathing - reduces monthly cooling costs by blocking up to 97% of the radiant heat in the panel from emitting into a home’s attic, lowering attic temperatures by up to 30° F.
KEEPS CHICKENS COOLER IN SUMMER AND WARMER IN WINTER
Our coops are great for airflow with the Safe Horizon Ventilation Opening and the window that opens. We also use tech shield sheathing to help keep your chicken cooler in the summer.

Additional heavier insulation is used.to provide the best heat retention in winter too. Our architectural shingles have a 35 year manufacturers warranty.
Metal roofs are a stylish option and have a 40 year manufacturer's warranty. They are also standard with Premier coops. We use a double bubble insulation for heat retention in winter and to keep the coop cooler in summer and also to keep condensation at bay.
Choosing between a shingled roof and a metal roof and want to know which one is better? Neither is considered to be better. It is a style choice, so you are free to pick the one you like the looks of most.
